What Is Dermatitis?
Dermatitis know by another name eczema is diseases that causes inflammation of skin. Dermatitis causes itchiness, redness and rashes on the skin. Short duration dermatitis is characterized by small blisters. Dermatitis can be caused on the entire body or a small specific area.
Cause of Dermatitis – The causes of dermatitis are still unknown. But it is said to be a combination of genetic and environmental factors.
Environmental: The hypothesis suggests that unclean environment is the cause of asthma, eczema and other allergic disease and is suggested by various studies. Exposure to bacteria and other immune system modulators is important and missing out on this exposure increases risk for asthma and allergy. Eczema in some cases Dermatitis is an allergic reaction to the house dust mites.
Genetic: Various genes are associated with eczema, one them being filaggrin. Genetic studies have found 3 new genetic variations associated with dermatitis: OVOL1, ACTL9 and IL4-KIF3A.Dermatitis occurs three times more frequently in individuals with celiac disease and about two folds more frequently in people associated to individuals with celiac disease, which indicates a genetic link between the conditions.
